License Plate Dynamic Recognition (LPDR) is a pattern recognition technology that autonomously recognizes the license plate number and color of vehicles from dynamic video or static images. The hardware foundation generally includes trigger devices, camera equipment, lighting devices, image acquisition devices, and processing machines for identifying license plates. The software core includes algorithms for license plate positioning, character segmentation, and character recognition. A complete LPDR system should include seven parts: vehicle detection, image acquisition, image preprocessing, vehicle positioning, character segmentation, character recognition, and outputting the license plate number.
